At Gaida-Com Group, we believe that the best way to learn is by doing. Classrooms and workshops provide the foundation, but it’s in the field where creativity meets reality that real skills are sharpened. This vision came to life recently when our interns stepped out of the studio and into the vibrant atmosphere of the Family Funday event organized by Reading Clinic in Tamale.
The event was not only a celebration of family, learning, and togetherness but also a golden opportunity for our young trainees to experience what it truly means to cover a live event. With cameras in hand and sound equipment ready, the interns immersed themselves in the exciting world of media production, photography, and videography.

Learning Through Action
During the Family Funday, our interns learned how to capture moments that matter. From setting up cameras for the perfect shot to balancing sound levels in a lively environment, they gained firsthand experience in the challenges and excitement of event coverage.
But beyond the technical side, they also discovered the art of storytelling, understanding when to press record, how to frame people’s emotions, and the importance of blending fun with professionalism. Each click of the camera and adjustment of the microphone was a lesson that can’t be found in textbooks.
One intern shared:
“It was my first time covering such a big family event. I was nervous at the start, but by the end of the day, I felt confident about handling the camera and capturing special moments.”

Building Confidence and Teamwork
The Family Funday wasn’t just about technology and equipment, it was about people. Working together as a team, the interns coordinated with one another to ensure that every moment was covered. Whether it was the laughter of children at play, parents engaging in activities, or the vibrant performances, they learned the importance of teamwork in delivering excellent results.
For many of them, it was also the first time working directly with a client outside the Gaida-Com space. This exposure built their confidence, helping them realize that they are capable of meeting the demands of real-world projects.

Strengthening Gaida-Com’s Mission
At its core, Gaida-Com Group is on a mission: to train a new generation of content creators in Northern Ghana who will use their digital skills to inspire positive change in society. The Family Funday fieldwork was a perfect reflection of this mission in action.
By giving young people practical opportunities like this, we are not only teaching them technical skills but also nurturing leadership, creativity, and resilience. We believe that with the right training and mentorship, the youth of Northern Ghana can compete on any global stage in content creation.

Why Practical Training Matters
In today’s fast-paced digital world, theoretical knowledge alone is not enough. Brands, organizations, and communities need storytellers who can adapt, create, and deliver in real time. That is why Gaida-Com emphasizes practical learning experiences such as internships, fieldwork, and event coverage.
This hands-on approach ensures that our trainees are not just learning for learning’s sake but are building skills that employers and industries need from photography and videography to sound engineering, editing, and digital storytelling.

Looking Ahead
The success of the interns at the Family Funday event strengthens our commitment to creating more opportunities like this. With every project, we move closer to building a network of skilled content creators who will showcase the richness of Northern Ghana to the world.
We are excited about what lies ahead not just for Gaida-Com as an organization, but for the talented young people we mentor. Together, we are creating a future where creativity meets opportunity, and where stories from our communities are told with professionalism and passion.
