ESMVC Project Promotes Inclusive Contract Farming to Strengthen Agricultural Partnerships in Northern Ghana

Building Stronger Market Connections Through Inclusive Contract Farming

What if farmers and buyers could work together in a way that benefits everyone while creating sustainable business opportunities? This was the focus of a One-Day Sensitisation Workshop on Inclusive Contract Farming (iCF) organized by the ESMVC Project Consortium at Modern City Hotel in Tamale on 17th July 2026.

The workshop brought together producers, off-takers, and key actors within the agricultural value chain in Northern Ghana. Organized by the ESMVC Project Consortium comprising Dirsung Company Limited, Anchor Resource Management & Trading Ltd., and Agrofredina Company Limited in collaboration with the German Cooperation, the European Union (EU), OACPS, GIZ, and the Agri-Business Facility for Africa (ABF), the event aimed to deepen participants’ understanding of Inclusive Contract Farming as a sustainable business model.

Participants explored business opportunities within the agricultural value chain, discussed opportunities created through iCF, and shared practical experiences on building successful partnerships between producers and off-takers. The workshop also highlighted avenues for seizing joint market opportunities and provided training on the GIZ methodology for promoting Inclusive Contract Farming.

Why This Matters

Inclusive Contract Farming creates stronger links between producers and buyers, helping farmers secure reliable markets while giving off-takers access to quality agricultural products. By promoting trust, transparency, and long-term partnerships, the model contributes to increased productivity, improved incomes, and sustainable growth across the agricultural sector.

Through initiatives like this workshop, the ESMVC Project is helping to build a more inclusive, resilient, and competitive agricultural value chain that benefits farmers, agribusinesses, and communities throughout Northern Ghana.
