A dream can begin with something as simple as a basketball. In Tamale, that dream is now taking shape through The Gift of the Game, one of Gaida-Com Short Documentary Series which captures the commissioning of a brand-new community outdoor basketball court and the powerful impact it is already having on young people.
This landmark project was made possible through a strong collaboration between New York Square, Ghana Basketball Association, the Jordan Nwora Foundation, FIBA Africa Zone 3, and FIBA. More than just infrastructure, the court represents opportunity, unity, and a renewed commitment to sports development in Northern Ghana.

Dedicated to the memory of Dr. Sampana, the court stands as a living tribute to his belief in sports as a tool for progress and community building. Every game played and every young athlete who steps onto the court keeps that vision alive.
What began as a court commissioning quickly evolved into Ghana’s largest basketball camp, drawing young players from across the country. Under the guidance of NBA star Jordan Nwora and other respected basketball figures, participants were mentored on discipline, teamwork, and building a future beyond the game.

The Gift of the Game shows that this court is more than concrete and paint, it is a foundation for dreams. As part of the Gaida-Com Short Documentary Series, the film tells a powerful story of how one court can inspire a community, shape a generation, and signal a brighter future for basketball in Ghana and across Africa.
